Monthly update: June

June has passed, we’re already halfway done with this year! It’s time to review the month of June!

Summary:

-Dividend income: €89,11

-YoY income growth: 70,94%

-Acquired first non-dividend stock: JD.com

-Contributed €960,26 to my portfolio

Contributions:

I’ve transferred €960,26 to my personal portfolio this month. Yet I have also started an account with my broker to periodically invest in ETF’s and this month I started with an amount of €195,59. These funds include fresh capital, return of crowdfunding investments and dividend reinvestments.

Transactions:

This month I made quite a special transaction, I’ve bought my first ever non-dividend stock; JD.com. I’ve decided to diversify a little extra geographically and also in different kind of stocks (growth stocks). But don’t worry I will stay DGI oriented and fiercly hope JD will pay a dividend down the road.

The purchase consisted of 33 shares of JD.com at a cost of $39,412 per share for a total of $1300,61.

Increases:

-Starbucks gave us an update on their numbers which was dissapointing to a lot of investors, for me it would have created a buying opportunity if I had more cash. They also announced a small dividend increase of 20%! This gained me $9,60 pre-tax. Starbucks opted to increase the dividend a quarter earlier than normal, which is always a welcome surprise.

-Realty Income also announced one of their clockwork increases, it’s small yet it was very welcome. They increased their dividend by 0,2% and this gained me a whopping $0,18 pre-tax.

Net May increases: $8,31

Received dividends:

The total net dividends for June were:

€16,46

$84,64

Making for a total of €89,11

This means I increased my dividends with 70,94% year over year. Some great progress if I may say so myself!

These are the companies which contributed this month:

Last month I crossed the €100 mark for the first time, this was mostly because of a yearly dividend payment of Sanofi. Yet this month I’m getting close to the €100 again without any ‘special’ payments, it’s is really motivating to see my income grow this aggressively.

Thank you for reading, I hope your June dividends were just as great as mine!

Happy investing!

  1. Solid growth numbers and a nicely diversified dividend income. I like your positions in PepsiCo and VF Corp; great companies. I waited too long buying VF Corp two years ago when its price fell like crazy! Good luck with the month of July! 👍

Thanks, VFC was a great purchase indeed, I wish I had more. The dividend growth with them is insane. Thanks for your comment and good luck to you too in July!

  2. Solid YoY increase!
Have you projected the year 2018? What is your dividend goal for this year?

    • DutchIndependence

Projected income is getting close to a $1000. I hope I can make it €1000 by years end. I don’t think it will happen as I see various costs coming and I’ll have to up my savings game. Thank you for your comment!

Thanks, I loved the increase, and the recent drop in price has given many investors a chance to get in around 3% yield!

Thanks CF, good to see you back around! It is become more and more obvious to me how this game works. Every month I have the idea my income is gathering more income than the last quarter around. It’s getting more and more exciting by the month. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. A solid group of dividend payers in June, DI. I share 6 companies with you. I’d like to add some 3M but would like to see a price in the $180s before initiating any position.
Your progress is outstanding… keep it up.
I like your willingness to add a growth stock that doesn’t pay a dividend. Hopefully, it does turn into a dividend paying stock in the future.

    • DutchIndependence

Thanks for the kind words ED, I really love seeing my progress too as it’s much faster than expected. 3M around $180 would be a no brainer, it’s one of the most solid companies out there, let’s hope it gets there!
